Troy State University System

Abrazo Partners was selected to assist the Troy State University System as it began a consolidation of all distance learning operations under a single organizational structure. The System of three separately accredited campuses moved to a single accredited university, Troy State, in 2004. In addition to bringing three previously independent distance learning operations under one roof, the entrepreneurial arm of Troy State, University College, had to be incorporated into the new organization.

The challenge for Abrazo Partners was to develop a detailed blueprint for the consolidation that would maintain the high quality of Troy State's distance learning programs while continuing to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit of University College. The project included interviews with faculty, students, administrators and staff, a review of all current distance learning activities, discussions with key personnel, and document reviews. In addition, Abrazo Partners undertook a large scale quality assessment of over 300 existing online courses.

Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges

The SACS Commission on Colleges selected Abrazo Partners to develop and assist in the deployment of an online comprehensive training curriculum that would address the new SACS principles for accreditation and reaffirmation. The accrediting agency had not undergone significant change in its accreditation criteria since 1984. Therefore, the challenge for Abrazo Partners was to help the Commission cost-effectively train hundreds of volunteer evaluation team members and reviewers in the new processes. The goal was to make the training accessible to team members who reside across the southern region and who are unlikely (or unable) to attend a face to face training.
